Just For Laughs Sydney - October, 2000 Update

Just For Laughs Sydney Comedy Festival is just 8 weeks away & they've announced that even more laughs are on the way with 8 new announcements!



These new additions will be joining previously announced Gabriel Iglesias, Andrew Schulz, Kevin Bridges, Dara O'Briain, Nina Conti, Sam Morril, Catherine Cohen, Russell Kane, Phil Wang, Becky Robinson, Melanie Bracewell, and Urzila Carlson in what will be the biggest Just For Laughs Sydney yet!

SOOSHI MANGO (HOSTS) & FRIENDS

Concert Hall - Sydney Opera House – Monday 13 November

Following a sold-out Arena tour last year, Australia’s favourite comedy team hit the Sydney Opera House for the first time, hosting Just For Laughs Sydney along with some very special friends Effie plus Troy Kinne, Ibby Akbar, Joe White, Nikki Osborne & My Cousin Vlad.

MY THERAPIST GHOSTED ME LIVE! with JOANNE MCNALLY & VOGUE WILLIAMS

State Theatre – Wednesday 15 November

Following her successful run in Australia earlier this year, Joanne McNally returns with Vogue Williams bringing their hugely popular podcast "My Therapist Ghosted Me” for a live show. MTGM is the result of Joanne McNally’s therapist doing just that! Ignoring her calls, refusing to answer the door, or speak to her after she'd tracked him down at Enfield crematorium as he scattered his Aunt's ashes. Join friends Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams as they team up to give the best therapy with 100%, unsubstantiated but honest advice with a generous helping of laughter.

TREVOR WALLACE

Enmore Theatre – Saturday 28 October

US comedian, writer & actor, Trevor Wallace, is on his way to Australia for his debut tour!

Wallace can be seen just about everywhere on the internet and has collectively built a digital thumbprint of over 2.5 billion views across his social media channels with a following of over 16 million fans collectively. Wallace has been featured on Comedy Central, MTV, Barstool Sports, E! News, The L.A. Times, The New York Times, Ad Age, Business Insider, Men’s Health, Buzzfeed, and Complex to name a few. Wallace was also voted as a finalist for “Best in Comedy” at the 2020 Shorty Awards.

BASSEM YOUSSEF

Enmore Theatre – Tuesday 14 November

Dubbed the Jon Stewart of the Arab world, Bassem was the host of the popular TV show Al-Bernameg which was the first of its kind political satire show in the Middle East and watched across the region with over 30 million viewers every week.

The show received wide acclaim around the world with coverage in some of the biggest media outlets, topping it off with Youssef’s appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

In recognition of his success, Youssef was named among Time Magazine's most influential list for 2013 – under the “Pioneers” category, was awarded the International Press Freedom Award by the CPJ, and was chosen by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the global thinkers during the same year.

TUMUA

The Comedy Store – Wednesday 15 November

Born and raised in Hawaii, Tumua is an actor, stand-up comedian, former collegiate athlete and social media personality. His online presence reaches over 400,000+ followers combined on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. His social media sketches and stand-up bits are followed in the Polynesian community throughout the world.

As a stand-up comic, Tumua has sold out clubs, theatres and even arenas all across America. He is much loved in his hometown in Oahu where he sells out multiple theatre shows within hours! Don’t miss your chance to see Tumua in this intimate setting.

MUSICAL COMEDY IS COOL

Factory Theatre – Wednesday 15 November

This year sees the return of the very popular Musical Comedy Show at Just For Laughs Sydney – this year hosted by the absolutely hilarious and viral sensation, Tom Cardy with special guests Cameron James and Gillian Cosfriff, with more to be announced. When you like your comedy to be in tune – this is the show for you.

THE ALTERNATIVE SHOW

Factory Theatre – Wednesday 15 November

Put some of the craziest and off-kilter comedians together in one show and what do you get? The Just For Laughs Sydney Alternative Show.

Hosted by one of Australia’s funniest storytellers, Geraldine Hickey and featuring New Zealand’s superstar Guy Montgomery, our very own Dan Rath, fast-rising star Takashi Wakasugi, and the woman who is always ready to shock and awe, Zoe Coombs-Marr.

JUST FOR LAUGHS AUSTRALIA: LIVE

The Studio – Sydney Opera House – 16-18 November

Hosted by the much loved, award-winning Melanie Bracewell, the incredibly popular JUST FOR LAUGHS AUSTRALIA: LIVE will again feature top-shelf Australian and international comedians. This year’s 10th anniversary edition will also feature Becky Lucas, Nazeem Hussain, Luke Heggie, Geraldine Hickey, Nina Oyama, Dara O Briain, Nina Conti, He Huang, Tom Cardy, Michelle Brasier, Kevin Kropinyeri, Diruk Jayasinha, Harley Breen, Ivan Aristeguieta, Dan Rath, Cameron James, Zoe Coombs-Marr, Gillian Cosgriff, Bronwyn Kuss, Michael Hing, Tommy Little and many more to come!

Six shows filmed over three nights with each show featuring a different exciting lineup. These shows will be filmed for TV and aired on Network 10 and Paramount+ later in 2024. Here’s your chance to be in the audience of the filming of an iconic Australian comedy series.

THE ALL-STAR GALA

Concert Hall - Sydney Opera House – Friday 17 November

Hosted by Urzila Carlson, the All-Star Gala will again feature a star-studded lineup with some of the world’s top comedians along with some of Australia’s best. The All-Star Gala, the Night of Nights of the Festival, will present an exclusive lineup of world-class entertainment with some surprise guests.

Also announcing 2nd shows for Russell Kane and Nina Conti.

The Festival will take place 12-21 November and tickets are on sale now.
