While the rugby league boys in blue are waiting for the green light to resume playing, they’re thinking of creative ways to stay in the black.
Tough Rugby League Season For Newtown Jets
With their last game played back on the 8th of June, it’s fair to say it has not been a very productive season for the Newtown Jets rugby league team. And the final blow came when NSWRL Chief Executive, David Trodden, delivered the news: “With the current Public Health Order in force until at least 28 August, and there understandably being no current NSW Government sanctioned road map out of the lockdown for sport, the Board was left with little option but to cancel our major competitions,”
To keep spirits high, the Jets have been pouring through their history archives, so they can share stories of the past online.
What happens to the players, you might ask, when they can’t compete? Well, with strict lockdowns and limited or no access to the gyms, the coaches have still managed to maintain a connection with all the boys and provide them with individual programs.
Having not played for two seasons, however, could affect the line-up you see once lockdowns cease. When the new season commences, there may be a few new faces.
If you still want to support your club, the best option now is to buy something from their shop online. You can find Newtown Jets clothing and merchandise at www.newtownjetsclothing.com.au
And while we can’t bring you any more live games, the Jets have kindly shared some fantastic action shots taken by Mario Facchini for you to enjoy.
