Dastan Opens in Mosman, Bringing Modern Pakistani and Indian Flavours to Sydney's Lower North Shore

With a contemporary take on Indian and Pakistani cuisine, Dastan pairs bold flavours with a warm, intimate atmosphere. The decor balances modern styling with traditional touches — earthy tones, soft lighting, textured walls and polished timber finishes that create a relaxed yet refined dining experience. It feels equally suited to a casual weeknight dinner or a lively shared feast with friends.

Dastan spread of food on table

The menu celebrates classic street food and charcoal-cooked favourites, with standout starters including pani puri, papri chaat and crispy pakoray layered with tangy chutneys and spice. The seekh kebabs and lamb cutlets deliver smoky depth, while the tandoori lime and coriander prawns offer a lighter, fragrant option.

Menu Favourites

Emerging favourites include the Bhindi Ghost: tender lamb slow-cooked with fresh okra and Eastern spices, balancing earthly, vegetal notes with rich savoury depth; Chicken Handi: tender chicken slow-cooked in rich, buttery tomato gravy with warming spices; and the simple but delicious Kachumber Salad: chopped cucumber, onion and tomato in lemon dressing.

Dastan cocktails

Rich curries and slow-cooked specialties designed for sharing form the heart of the main menu, along with fluffy naan and fragrant rice. For a special treat, try the Crisp pani puri. Chilled spiced water. Sweet, tangy, spicy chaos in one bite.

Diners can expect generous use of aromatic spices without overwhelming heat, allowing each dish to retain balance and complexity. The restaurant’s focus on presentation also gives traditional comfort dishes a more polished edge.
